Diary of events June - July

whole family. Refreshments will be available with a BBQ, teas & cakes and a beer tent. A display of  Harley Davidson motorbikes and a tug-o-war competition will add to the afternoon’s attraction.

 

Saturday 3rd July - Village hall, 7pm for 7.30 start. £7.00 a head (children free), ploughman's supper. Tables of up to 8. Licensed bar and soft drinks. All welcome. Contact Joanna Steel on 360918. Twinning Association.

 

Sunday 4th July to Great Waltham Church for the Walthambury W. I. 40th Anniversary Concert. Bring your own picnic for an extended 1 hour interval. The Concert starts at 6.30 p.m. and will have a licensed bar, tea & coffee, and strawberries with cream for sale also in the interval. Tickets in advance Adults £10 Children £5, on the night Adults £12 Children £6. Tickets can be obtained from The Walthambury Stores or by telephone on 01245 360615. Sunday 11th July - 7.30pm Can England do it? British Legion. Non members £1.

 

Saturday 17th July - 7.15pm, marquee on school field. Bring your friends and family for an evening of fun and dancing – no experience needed! Licensed bar. Tickets (not including food) Adults £7.50, Children £2.50; telephone 360918.

 

Sunday 18th July - 12 noon, school field. Fun and games and a chance to get together for everyone. Barbecue and bar from 12. Cream teas at 2.30pm. Wacky Races, face painting, human fruit machine, games, a chance to view a real racing car!

 

Friday 23th July - Adults Only. Fancy Dress. Interactive Fun 7.45 pm Members £3 Non Members £4

 

Saturday 24th July - More details about the Bike Surgery will be displayed neared the time.

 

Tuesday 27th July - 2.30 pm recreation ground. Up, Up and Away Baby and Toddler group (every Tuesday from 1.30 pm in the Village Hall term time only) is holding their annual Teddy Bear's Picnic in the play park at Gt Waltham. Everyone is very welcome to attend, just bring a picnic, a rug and a Teddy Bear. Contact Lynda Gooby on 362205.

Friday 11th June - Magic by 'Ron-Aldi' - Member of the Magic Circle plus Gt Waltham's best Magicians! Joint fund raiser with the Waltham Scouts 7.30 pm Members £3 Non Members £4 Children £1

 

Sunday 13th June - Sell your unwanted items outside your own home (sorry - central village only) from 11am. £5 per stallholder, payable to GWCN. Contact J. Steel on 360918 to book a stall and be included on the location map. Customers - park at the village hall, collect a map then stroll round and grab a bargain. Refreshments at the village hall. Great Waltham Community Network.

 

Saturday 19th June - are performing works by local composer Cecil Armstrong Gibbs to commemorate the 50th anniversary of his death. The programme also features works by some of Armstrong Gibbs' contemporaries such as Bax, Parry and Vaughan Williams. Tickets are £11 (£9 con) and are available from James Dace Music Shop, Chelmsford, by phoning Liz on 01245-359204, from choir members or at the door.

 

Saturday 19th June - Gt. Waltham's best (and worse chefs) demonstrate their skills. Joint fund raiser with Waltham Scouts 7.45 pm Members £3 Non Members £4 Children £1

 

Sunday 20th June - Come and look at gardens in and around Great Waltham and Howe Street and see how many scarecrows you can spot on the way! Why not join in and let your scarecrow sit in your front garden for the day. Refreshments will be available in some of the gardens. £3 per adult. Children free. More details from www.gwcn.org.uk or look out for posters nearer the time.

 

Wednesday 23rd June - Enjoy a pint of real ale or a good wine while watching a great English tradition. 8.30pm Walnut Tree, Broads Green

Saturday 26th June - FOGW&FEC: The Friends of Great Waltham and Ford End Churches Trust is organising a Summer Fete which will be held on the field opposite Ford End Church from 12 noon until 4.00 pm. There will be numerous stalls, games and craft displays to entertain the
